In June I attended a Electric fun fly in Farmington New Mexico. The San Juan Radio Control Club has this event every June. It is a real laid back fun time. Lots of flying and stories of flying, some true and some maybe not. Ha. They had 16 pilots shooting holes in the sky. There was a pot luck dinner on Saturday.
This is a real fun event to come to. The club will treat you as a member and help in any way. The main goal is to just have fun. Keep this event in mind for next year, it will be electrifying.

Saturday morning Memorial Day weekend. I went out to the field today to fly my new Kadet SR. This was the third or fourth flight on it. It flew just like a Kadet should, nice and slow.
There was about 15 pilots out this morning. We were trying to beat the wind. It has been a little windy for a couple weeks. This morning the winds were just right. Lots of planes in the air at once. I like flying with other planes.
So, let’s not forget those that lost their lives serving our great country. We also lost some flyers and family this year. May we never forget them.

On March 27th a brand new club here in Albuquerque had their first get together. This club is trying to get IMAC started again in Albuquerque. They have over 20 members at this time.
They had open flying and provided hotdogs and hamburgers to all that came out. I think there was about 25 or more people mostly eating and talking planes. They were having a great time. Joey Winklepleck is the president and he is real excited about IMAC. Vince Martinez is a board member also and is helping Joey get the club off to a good start.
They are in the planning stages for a contest here in Albuquerque. Stay tuned for more information. Once they get the dates set, come out and help this new club have a great event. It looks like IMAC is alive and well in Albuquerque.

Hi from warm Albuquerque. Today New Mexico was showing off. The weather is great. Light winds and warm. The sky was blue with a few clouds. There were about 20 or more flyers out today. This about how Saturdays are every weekend.
Today I got a chance to maiden Howard Chapman’s Quaker Flash. When taxing I noticed the rudder was backwards. After a quick change, I took it back out to the center line and took off. It left the ground at about 1/4 throttle. I gave it a little down trim and it was a very friendly bird. I flew it around a few minutes and then gave control to Howard. That’s the last time I got to fly it. He wouldn’t let me take it back. Ha. He flew around a little bit and did the first landing. No problems. Took it off again in about 3 feet. This is a nice slow relaxing plane. It flies just like it should. I may have to build on too.
One note. Check the controls. I thought he had them right. It saved the plane and we had a good time.

The wind is our friend today. It was a great day on Saturday to finish our event. There were 23 pilots signed up to fly. Turbines and ducted fans filled the skies. The event had a pretty good crowd of spectators. The parking lot was over flowing.
ARCC did a great job hosting this event. Big thanks to Kory, Les,Keith,Dennis,Justin,Stan,Terry and Howard. These are the men that made the effort to make a great event. Thanks.
Next year should be even better. The word is out, ARCC runs a great event and is worth the trip. Can’t wait until next year.

The Jets are here. Yes that’s right, we have jets flying at Maloof Memorial park here in Albuquerque. They started flying on Thursday. The winds were good. I was told that it was a good day. Now for Friday. The wind is not our friend. When I got there it was 39 degrees with just a little wind. It started blowing and no jets flew. Some of the pilots were seen hiding behind a trailer to get out of the wind and cold. The event was shut down for the day. The winds are going to die in the afternoon and some will fly then. Tomorrow is going to be much nicer. I’ll be out early to see what happens.

I attended the Greater Southwest Aeromodelers scale masters qualifier and The ED Couch Texas scale Championship. It was a real good time. I felt like part of the club. There was 6 rounds of flying, 4 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. Lawrence kept it moving along and we were able to get all the rounds in. The weather was perfect with light winds.
The club did a good job with cooking burgers and dogs on Saturday. Plenty of water and soft drinks. The field was groomed to almost perfection. Nice smooth runway. I had a good time.
I was happy to make the drive to Fort Worth. Could not have done it with out my navigator Howard. Those roads are confusing.
Come out next year. You will have fun.

Great News. The Albuquerque Radio Control Club is hosting a Jet fly in. They did this two years ago and had a blast. Last year was cancelled because of the virus. BOO. So, the event is back this year. Come out to Albuquerque and fly your jets or, just come and watch. It will be fun.

Treasure. Today I was at the ARCC swap meet in Albuquerque. Les Beason was the man in charge and did a great job. There was lots of treasure to be had. A bunch of sellers showed up and soon the buyer or lookers were on hand to get a deal. Les has a Balsa USA DH4 that was built by Mr. Adams. It is an outstanding plane. He tried and tried to sell it. I might end up with it, have no idea where to put it.
The weather was hot. It got hotter before we left. It is always fun to come to these events. The knowledge from some of the older old timers is priceless.
Join a local club, join the AMA and go fly something.
