Aeromodelers of Acadiana Warbird Airshow – March 24-27, 2022
AOA opened the Southern Louisiana flying season with its 6th. annual Warbird event. Forty-one pilots showed up and registered from places as far away as Virginia. Once again, this year the Texas Warbird group showed up and flew from Thursday through Sunday. Great food, the beautiful AOA flying site, southern hospitality, and hardy cross winds on Friday challenged and rewarded the pilots. From the giant scale Tri-wing to the eighty-pound Hellcat, there was something for everyone to admire and enjoy. AOA’s camp sites are coveted and many pilots reserved their spot for next year before departing Breaux Bridge, Louisiana for home. Pictured is Albert Thibodeaux, from Cajun Black Sheep RC, a perennial guest at AOA events.

Texas Warbirds were well represented, as well as, Back of the Bend, SHARKS, and many others. The flying and Saturday night feast welcomed 49 registered pilots. Even the children’s play area and sand pile were well attended. Several beautiful giant scale turbines wowed the many pilots and guests too. After a year of COVID restrictions AOA launched 2021 in grand fashion. Pictured are Jimmy White and Tim Ott of Texas Warbirds.
The 11th. Annual Cajun Heli-Fest was held this weekend at RAMS in Crowley, Louisiana. It would have been the 12th. Annual but Covid 19 cancelled last years event. Around thirty anxious pilots showed up and camped at the field. The weather was great, the grass was beautiful and green, and as usual the hospitality was in the true Cajun tradition.
