1st Annual Bill Thomas Memorial IMAC Challenge
This past weekend I had the privilege to fly at Copan, Ok at the first Annual Bill Thomas Memorial IMAC. Bill Thomas started flying in the early 50’s and was very big in Pattern in the 80’s. He was successful in winning NATS in 67’through the early 80’s. When listening to several of his RC family and club members Top Pattern Flyer, tinker, serious and disciplined man are just a few words used to describe the driver of the Bartlesville Falcons Model Club. Bill designed the perfection, a three channel pattern plane that is hanging in the AMA Museum in Muncie, IL. Stepping out on the grass runway seeing the hard work that went into this contest I could only imagine Bill looking down with a big smile. The contest brought 20 pilots from all seven states in the South Central Region: Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi! This will be one to place in your calendars for next year, the hot meals were exceptional with plenty of camaraderie to go around.
