Time to hang it up.

Hi District VIII. It has been great serving as New Mexico’s AVP. I have been doing something with the district since 2008. I have seen a lot of good and bad thru the years. Mostly good. I served with Jim Rice, Mark Johnson and Lawrence Harville. What a ride. I need to spend more time flying and less time being the police at our field here in Albuquerque.

Thanks for letting serve.

Cloudy Day in Albuquerque

On January 24th I went to Maloof Memorial Park to fly. The day and night before it was raining. Wednesday morning the rain had stopped. It was warm for January and cloudy. There was about seven pilots out this morning. Most of the day we flew bright colored black planes. They were black due to no sun shine. I had a great time. We can fly all year round here in Albuquerque. It will get colder this winter but, we show up and freeze to get some flying in.  Come on summer.

Here is a picture of Ray Dukart, Brian Regan, Marlin Smith and Steve Wilcox. Ray is holding a plane that he flew for the first time. The maiden went great. He likes it.

Frozen Coyote Fly In.

Greetings from Albuquerque, NM. Lots of flying in the cold mornings. We have had some cold days. Nothing like up north and back east. Snow and rain with high winds have stopped us a couple days. This week is was pretty good with about 32 degrees to start out and then get warmer.

I had an idea the didn’t go well. I was going to new year event like the Polar bear clubs do each winter. It was going to be the first Frozen Coyote fly in. We were to strip to our speedo’s, take off, fly 3 laps and land. No takers and I wasn’t going to do it by myself. So. it didn’t happen. The flying was good fully dressed and it got warmer later in the day. I didn’t get any pictures. Who wants to see a bunch of old men in their swim suits? Not me.

Maybe we can get this done next year. In the mean time, get out and fly, join the AMA and your local club.

Greetings from sunny warm (hot) Albuquerque. Bret and I brought our 60 size sticks to the field this weekend. We have been flying these all summer. Most days we have been trying to get about 6 to 8 flights before the heat runs us off. I don’t know how many touch and goes we have done, one after another. While I enjoy my WW1 planes, this has become my plane of choice. Both planes are electric on 6 cells. We are having a great time. The picture is of Brian Regan AVP (me) on the left and Bret Tabor on the right. So far we have not flown the wrong plane. Ha.

Hi from Albuquerque. A month or so ago I attended two events in one weekend. On Saturday I went up to Farmington NM for the San Juan Radio control Club’s electric fly in. It was a blast. There were about 20 pilots and the flew a lot. There was a contest or two with a few guys trying them. All in all it was a real fun time.

On Sunday I went to ARCC’s scale meet. I don’t know how many pilots. I think there was about 25 or more. Flying was great. The weather was warm and light winds. Harry and James did an excellent job. I hope they do this again next year.

Memorial Day 2023

Memorial Day 2023

Greetings from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I went to the local field this morning to get a fright in this Memorial day. There was just a few flyers today. The weather was great. Cool and not windy. I had a good morning.

Went over to the drone side to see some friend fly their drones. There was 5 pilots trying to go in and out of the course they set up. They fly line of site and first person view. Looked like they were having a good time.

The flyers from left to right. Paul Sanchez, Bret Tabor, Jerry Gatewood, Ray Dukart and Jeff Brooks.

Happy Memorial Day and take time to remember the friends we lost this year.
